During decade of the 30's, an enormous increase in freight transport by air, the company Douglas Commercial Model, creates a first DC1, but rather as an experiment, with a subsequent DC2, which will see the light as transport aircraft.
American Airlines, they place an order for more planes, but applying an improved version of the DC2, this time directly focused on passenger transport. Thus was born the DC3, soon to be the plane most sought by both carriers as passenger lines, not just America, but also in Europe and Asia.
The army was not to be outdone, and they requested a hybrid between DC2 and 3 models, with and creates the C39 model, nicknamed the year of manufacture.
In 1939, the outbreak of war, increasing production and launch the C47 Skytrain model, uses several (R4D1 for the Navy) and (DC 3 A-360 for civilian use). Also launched the C53 model used Skytrooper paratrooper (R4D4 for the navy) and (DC3A-405 for civilian use).
The army launched a massive petition of C47 and C53, for its high value and versatility a plane being used for both freight transport use to transport troops and parachuting. Oklahoma
Factories, Santa Monica and Long Beach, working at full capacity and to end the conflict, had come to make more than ten thousand units. Only during 1944, increased production to 4853 aircraft.
The C47 had several names depending on where they were delivered, for example, the British named "Dakota" as the abbreviation stands for Douglas Aircraft Company Transport Aircraft. But the Yankees would call it the K as the state of their country. The Americans also nicknamed the "Gooney Birds" Boobies, by performing slow flight. The C47 and C53
, were paramount during the D Day in Normandy, where they were used widely, for the launch of American and British airborne troops, and countless gliders with troops, weapons and vehicles.
During Operation Market Garden in Holland, was used most widely deployed transport aircraft ever seen in history, both parachuting British, Americans and Poles, and the subsequent supply of the troops already launched.
In the Pacific war, the C47, were of vital importance for the transport of Marines, for the supply of the islands, and to transport injured.
During the war, were supplied to Britain under lend-lease agreement, 50 Dakotas Mk 1 (C-47), 951 Dakota Mk III (C-47A) and 894 Dakota Mk IV (C-47B) not counting another 28 canceled after the victory over Japan, being the country that received units of this device.
After the war, the RAF bought 600 units and rented another 650, for use in conflicts in China, India and Burma.
The AC-47 "Spooky" was a C-47 gunship, which was used during the Vietnam War. Was the result of the RC-47 versions and CD-47. With 200,000 flares that illuminated the night and 3 mini cannons, each capable of firing 6000 dpm and every 4 a tracer bullets, really looked like a dragon spitting fire. Among Vietcong troops, arrived in panic when flying at night. In documents belonging to the Vietcong, referring to the reputation of the Dragon, saying "do not attack the dragon because only enrage the monster"
Another C-47, known as Bull-Shit Bomber or Psywar Aircraft "is used in psychological warfare missions throwing tons of leaflets, while demoralizing messages issued with speakers, they were usually escorted by an AC-47 Spooky.
When the war ended, took over on Skytrooper C57, which was based on the C47B and was 24 seats in civil use, being used for personal transportation of high importance. By

History of Rocket Launcher (The Bazooka)

In 1918, Dr Robert H. Goddard, a genius idea capable of launching rockets through a tube with an explosive charge based on the idea of \u200b\u200bCharles Edward Mumroe physical. This idea was pretended to shoot down the first tanks and armored vehicles during the First World War. This invention could be tested successfully by the U.S. Army Signal Corps and was prepared to take the lead, but five days later, the Great War, would end and the engine of Goddard, quedaria forgotten. Superbazooka

In the early 30's, a Swiss named Henry Mohaupt, invented a grenade capable of traversing 100 mm of armor, but had the difficulty of excessive weight 1 , 6 kg, made it difficult to use to throw to targets. Why invent a smaller version, M9 and M10 could shoot with a rifle grenade using as support, but these charges remain small and unable to a target with a good shield.
At the beginning of 40, Colonel Leslie A. Skinner, had the idea to place larger grains, attached to a rocket capable of launching them at medium distances. The rocket launchers to fire grenades estasn large, the idea was Navy Lt. Edward G, Uhl and that is how is born in early 1942, the first prototype rocket M1 A1.
This weapon consisted of a tube 1.39 meters long and 60.3 mm in diameter, with handle and wooden stock, within which there was a dry battery providing energy to the ignition spark to ignite the rocket projectile. In the back of the tube, there was a metal basket that served as protection for the hand of the server, which introduced the rocket, thus avoiding to touch the electrical contacts by hand. Rocket projectiles, had a bore of 60.07 mm by 400 mm long.
During a presentation of this new weapon, some humorous remarks, suggested the resemblance he had with a musical instrument called the Bazooka, and popularly known it would look like this famous rocket launchers.
The new rocket will be a secret successfully tested in North Africa during Operation Torch, where minor defects limaron I had, without being able to prevent some of these weapons falling into the hands of the enemy, who quickly called a weapon similar ideology "Panzershreck" a higher caliber. 89.9 mm. Later the model
M1 A1, it would be improved by the M9, with head and metal handle and flared mouth anti setbacks. Another later model, the M9 A1, could be split in two for easy transport, and exchange their electric ignition system by another magnetic ignition.
The bazooka was often obsolete due to the emergence of new armored tanks like the Tiger, the Panther or Konigtiger, which the model M1 A1, power was limited. After the war saw the need to increase the size of their shells, and so would be born the new bazooka, M20, M20
was popularly known Superbazooka "with a diamentro of 89 mm and a range of 150 meters, capable of penetrating armor 200mm . The M20 would be very useful during the Korean War, where he would face the Soviet armored T34-85. Vietnam would be gradually replaced by new LAW (light antitank weapon).
